Touring help

I have a couple planning to stay here on their way from Tacoma WA to Boston on Monday night.

They're planning to come via the Capitol District.

Any first-hand experience with bike routes through the Capitol District maze? Where best to cross the Hudson? routes through Troy-Brunswick? Tamarack road? Stillwater bridge?

If you have some first-hand experience that might help them out, please let me know.

Wool Jersey

Tim Payne has been working to organize a very nice, long sleeve wool jersey for cooler weather cycling. This is a more traditional styled jersey, made out of super soft and very warm merino wool, but up to the challenges of our modern climate.

To get the order rolling we need order commitments now to ensure that the order will arrive ahead of any cold weather. Also, we'd like to make sure our cyclocross fanatics have their gear ready for the first races that are quickly approaching.

Here are the quick details of the jersey:

LS wool jersey (blend style) from Partland Cyclewear (please see http://www.portlandcyclewear.com/catalog/item/5741263/5618185.htm).

The jersey has a black body, with a white band across the chest, and the words "BENNINGTON - Battling since 1977" in green on the white background. On the sleeve it will have a flag.

The price is $69 ($56 for the Black jersey plus $13 for embroidery).

Great ride mapping site

You can easily map any ride you'd like to take by going to: http://mapmyride.com. You can create maps of rides you've already taken or are considering. Once created you can save them to your profile for future reference. The site will also calculate statistics for you, if you're interested. Elevations, BMI, Calories burned, etc. are available.

If you create a map that you'd like to have included on the map page, send a link to me and I'll add it.

You can print your map by paying a modest $2.00 fee.

Mad River Century Ride

This years Mad River Century is scheduled for Aug 23. If anyone is interested, please add your names to this forum. So far Tom Jacobs and Rob Steuer are looking to take this epic ride. It's a great century and one of the flatest you'll ever do...
